SPIE organises its maritime activities in response to the development of marine renewable energy projects

Nantes, 17 September 2020 – The Industrie division of SPIE Industrie & Tertiaire, a French subsidiary of the SPIE group, the independent European leader in multi-technical services in the fields of energy and communications, is announcing the creation of a new entity, “Services Navals & Energies Marines”. Its ambition is to expand the services it provides and consolidate its position as a key player in the Marine Renewable Energy (MRE) segment, a market that is growing rapidly.

While the creation of this entity will make MRE market expertise more comprehensible, it mainly allows for a relevant and innovative range of services to be offered for the entire sector, in particular due to SPIE’s energy management expertise and experience, with synergies between the maritime activities and marine energies (including offshore wind power) also being very strong.

The Industrie division of SPIE Industrie & Tertiaire is recognised for its technical skills and ability to resolve complex issues and intends to provide high added-value to stakeholders in this high-growth sector. “Demand is growing for carbon-free energy and offshore wind technology is reaching maturity,” highlights Frédéric Toussaint, Managing Director of the Industrie division of SPIE Industrie & Tertiaire. “Sticking to our desire to combine technical expertise with environmental commitments, we have decided to reconsider our organisational structure to make it easier to understand and to ensure that we can provide optimal solutions to our customers,” he adds.

The new entity consists of 70 permanent members of staff, most of whom are experts in automation, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering or project management. The teams can be deployed throughout France and more specifically in the Grand-Ouest area where Industrie division customers in naval repair and construction and marine energy are based,” explains Xavier de Noblens, head of the Industrie department in charge of the new MRE entity.

The first offshore wind farm projects are beginning to emerge in France and the Industrie division has been one of the key players in their development. “We are confident about the projects that are under way and which should result in the wind farms being marketed and industrialised by 2022,” concludes Xavier de Noblens.
