Spie Rail wins lot 3 - covering electrical power, electromechanical engineering and ticketing - for Cairo metro line 3
SPIE Rail, leader of the consortium comprising SPIE Rail, Alstom, Arab Contractors, Orascom and Thales, has been awarded the contract for lot G3 for the first phase of line 3 of the Cairo metro. This lot comprises electric power, electromechanical engineering and ticketing. This contract worth €120 million confirms the excellent relations SPIE Rail has enjoyed with National Authority for Tunnels (NAT) for 20 years. On the strength of its contribution to the satisfactory completion of Cairo metro lines 1 and 2 and its successful bid for this first phase of line 3, SPIE Rail's prospects for the remaining phases of line 3 are very promising. The metro's line 3 stretches 34 km from Ataba (in the west) to Cairo Airport (in the east). Its construction is scheduled in four phases. The first phase, 4.3 km long from Ataba to Abbasyia and including maintenance shops and the high-voltage power station, is to be completed in four years. Contacts:
