Essen, July 26th, 2016 - SPIE GmbH, a subsidiary of SPIE, the independent European leader in multi-technical services in the areas of energy and communications, has signed a purchase agreement to acquire GfT Gesellschaft für Elektro- und Sicherheitstechnik mbH (“GfT”), subject to the fulfilment of closing conditions. The local antitrust authorities have already provided their approval regarding the acquisition. With this transaction, SPIE will further develop its ICT skills and strengthen its presence in the Rhine-Ruhr area.
GfT, established in Essen in 1997, provides services in the areas of safety engineering, fiber optics, data technology and electrical engineering. With 60 highly qualified employees, GfT generated a revenue of approximately 17 million euros in 2015.
Markus Holzke, Managing Director of SPIE GmbH, said: “The GfT acquisition allows us to expand our offer in the areas of electrical and safety engineering, and to benefit from specialist know-how with regard to fiber optics and data technology.”
Jürgen Swientek, Managing Director of GfT, added: “For GfT too, this combination with SPIE is a step in the right direction. This is a chance to strengthen our impact and customer proposition, and it will allow us to tackle larger-scale projects.”
