SPIE takes over Johnson Controls Technischer Service employees, further expanding its competency for multi-technical services

Essen, August 7th, 2014 - Following unreserved approval by the German antitrust authorities, the multi-technical service provider SPIE GmbH, a fully-owned subsidiary of the European independent leader in multi-technical services SPIE S.A., has now successfully concluded the takeover of highly qualified employees from Johnson Controls Technischer Service. The transaction involves a workforce of 50 specialist employees based in Berlin, Hanover, Cologne, Bochum and Stuttgart, and contracts with an annual sales value of over EUR 9 million. The employees are specialists for service and small plant engineering in the areas of building engineering, building automation, air-conditioning and cooling technology.

With this takeover, SPIE continues to expand its position as a premier Multi-Technical Service Provider in Germany and Central Europe. The existing offices of the SPIE Building Technology & Service Solutions business area will be strengthened and new ones opened. “At our company, we rely on the expertise of our own engineers and technicians, and on performing a great deal of the work in-house. With our new personnel, we welcome highly qualified employees who are not easy to find in the market, and who thus give us a further competitive edge,” says Markus Holzke, Managing Director of SPIE GmbH. The company already took over 24 industrial refrigeration technicians from Johnson Controls Aircon in 2012.

SPIE GmbH is thus pursuing its strategy of expanding its existing technical competencies and broadening its service spectrum along the value chain. The planned expansion is primarily focused on technical services in the energy sector, cooling and air-conditioning, instrumentation, control and automation technology, and information and communication technology.
