Essen, August 18, 2015 - SPIE GmbH is to design and install a container cogeneration plant at Fujitsu’s production facility in Augsburg, after which it will handle and maintain the plant for ten years. The two companies have now signed a corresponding agreement. The cogeneration plant will have an electrical output of 800 kilowatts. Using the principle of combined heat and power generation, the new plant will produce electricity and heat in a highly efficient way. The resulting cost savings will amount to more than EUR 2 million over the entire contract term. Furthermore, annual CO2 emissions will be reduced by around 1,200 tons—a volume roughly equivalent to 92 households.
Fujitsu’s factory in Augsburg is the only remaining PC production site in Germany. It also houses research and development departments, as well as laboratories for testing systems and components. Following a comprehensive analysis of the production facility’s energy requirement, the experts from SPIE Energy Solutions will design and install the cogeneration plant for a fixed price and with success guarantee, in the role of general contractor. The new plant will increase supply security, reduce interfaces, and boost energy and operating efficiency.
SPIE has already been active at Fujitsu’s Augsburg facility for 15 years where the multi-technical service provider delivers services such as technical facility management and, in the area of PC assembly, also oversees the commissioning of new production plant and its subsequent maintenance.
